The Economic Development along the Belt and Road 2017 report addresses the need for a framework to analyse the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)’s complexity. It suggests that with a shared vision, the BRI can create a viable model for long-term, sustainable economic growth, as long as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are given a central role in the BRI’s quest for economic prosperity. With its policy-informing approach, the report explores the implications of the BRI for sustainable development of partner countries looking at the synergies and complementarities of the countries and regions engaging the initiative.
