Resident Representative Meets State Council Director for Hong Kong and Macao
Ahead of a proposed partnership on south-south cooperation between UNDP and the Government of Macao, a meeting was held between UNDP Resident Representative in China, Ms. Renata Dessallien (photo) and the State Council Director for Hong Kong and Macao, Mr. Wang Guangya, in Beijing on 10 August 2011. During the meeting, Ms. Dessallien congratulated the Chinese Government for its successful implementation of the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ policy in Hong Kong and Macao and discussed the best approach to cooperation with Portuguese speaking African Countries and in seeking implementing a Low Carbon Offset Initiative – two proposals currently under consideration by the Macao Government. Mr. Wang responded encouragingly to the proposals, expressing China’s commitment to south-south cooperation and its aspirations in helping other countries achieve peace and development, having benefitted from international aid in the past.
