    2014 Human Development Report Highlights Vulnerability and Resilience

    The United Nation’s Development Programme (UNDP) flagship publication, the Human Development Report (HDR), was presented during the International Forum on Disaster Preparedness and Risk Reduction which took place today in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Entitled Sustaining Human Progress: Reducing Vulnerabilities and Building Resilience, the 2014 Report provides a fresh perspective on vulnerability and proposes ways to strengthen resilience. It highlights that persistent vulnerability threatens human development, and states that unless it is systematically tackled by policies and social norms, progress will be neither equitable nor sustainable.

    Social Good Summit 2014 kicks off in Beijing

    The 2014 Global Social Good Summit Beijing was held today at the UN Compound in Beijing. Organised by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the event promoted China’s best practices and continuing commitment to using cutting-edge technology in promoting social good.     UNDP and MOFA jointly host Workshop on Post-2015 Process

    UNDP hosted a workshop on the post-2015 development process in cooperation with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing on 3 June 2014. The workshop sought to discuss the current status of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), as well as the agenda-setting process for the new agenda for 2015 and beyond that is currently still in development. In addition, themes of the new agenda were discussed with an emphasis on the role that China can take in the ongoing process.
