UNDP China launches first E-book: “Working with Civil Society in Foreign Aid – Possibilities for South-South Cooperation?”
UNDP China launched its first e-book, “Working with civil society in foreign aid – Possibilities for South-South cooperation?” today. The book aims to be a resource for South-South cooperation providers looking into possible ways of working with civil society organisations (CSOs) in their future foreign assistance efforts.

The seminar on Administrative System Reform of Public Service Units was held in Beijing on 22 September 2013. Co-organised by the China Research Society for Public Sector Reform, the United Nations Development Programme, the Chinese Public Administration Society, the China Society of Administration Reform, and the China Welfare Lottery Issuing and Management Centre, this Seminar brought together government officials, local practitioners, representatives from research institutions, think tanks, and leading scholars from selected countries to exchange ideas on improving public and social services provision.

UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative’s meets with new Greater Tumen Initiative Consultative Commission Chairman
On 21 May, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative to China Ms. Renata Dessallien met with the newly appointed Chair of the Consultative Commission (CC) of the Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI), a long-standing intergovernmental cooperation mechanism between four countries including the People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation. During this meeting, the strategic priorities and future development path of the GTI were discussed.

The 5th Annual Meeting of the China Society for Public Sector Reform and a seminar on Government Responsibility System took place on 11 May in Zhengzhou, Henan. UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in China Ms. Renata Dessallien addressed the event and joined other participants in exchanging views on how a government responsibility system should be established to help reach the public administration reform targets set at the 17th and 18th Party Congresses and in the 7th round of government reform starting in March 2013.
