“UNDP and CDB’s shared objective is to facilitate successful projects under the BRI”, noted Tegegnework Gettu, UNDP Administrator a.i,. “UNDP can help make these projects more profitable, while also increasing sustainability and embedding into local development priorities.”

The High-Level Dialogue concluded with a signing ceremony of a Joint Statement that officializes the strategic partnership and indicates the key areas of cooperation including:

  • Joint research on strategic issues such as inclusive economic growth patterns, development financing, poverty alleviation, climate financing, sustainable financial instruments, and the economic development analysis of Belt and Road countries.
  • Develop mechanisms for strengthening common strategies and join efforts to develop a network of sustainable investment promotion facilities to effectively leverage sustainable opportunities and advance sustainable investment;
  • Identify and implement projects with sustainable development outcomes, accumulating best practices and bringing development dividends to relevant regions and countries.

High-level representatives included Tegegnework Gettu, UNDP Administrator a.i,  Nicholas Rossellini, UNRC/UNDP RR in China and Agi Veres, UNDP China Country Director, CDB President Zheng Zhijie, Vice-President  Wang Yongsheng and Chief Economist Liu Yong.
