Emerging Economies Forum on Development Models

14 Dec 2011

Jointly organised by UNDP, Renmin University and Lingnan University, an international forum on "South-South Sustainability" was held in Hong Kong on 12-14 December 2011. In order to capitalise on growing interest in cooperating with developing countries in the Global South, more than 100 specialists and grassroots development practitioners, of which about half were from developing countries and emerging economies, joined the forum. A capacity building activity saw international participants organised into three groups and encouraged to provide a critical review of three types of development models currently employed in West, Central and East China. The resulting discussions are to be summarised in a report and will be made available to government authorities, academia and the general public.
