Associate Administrator Discusses South-South Cooperation with Ministry of Civil Affairs
UN Under-Secretary General and UNDP Associate Administrator, Ms. Rebeca Grynspan, met with Vice Minister of Civil Affairs, Mr. Sun Shaocheng on 16 September 2011. During the meeting, Ms. Grynspan acknowledged the achievements of an existing 3-year trilateral partnership between UNDP, MOCA and the European Union. In addition, she also pointed to the role of UNDP-MOCA cooperation in assisting civil society organisations gain greater political and legal recognition. Mr. Shun commended UNDP for its longstanding commitment to disaster management, civil society organisations and the protection of vulnerable groups in China.
With MOCA looking to broaden and expand its collaboration with UNDP, Ms. Grynspan and Mr. Shun also took the opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to working closely together in the future. They also shared their respective thoughts on the need to broaden the scope of development partnerships to more fully embrace and promote South-South Cooperation.
