UN Resident Coordinator

UNDP Resident Representative

Mr. Nicholas Rosellini

Nicholas Rosellini (Italy) took up his assignment as the UN Resident Coordinator, and UNDP Resident Representative in the People’s Republic of China in October 2016.

Prior to this, he served as UNDP Deputy Assistant Administrator and Deputy Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific since January 2009, and most recently also as Director of the Bangkok Regional Hub. Nicholas has also served as UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Bhutan (2005-2008); and previously in various capacities in UNDP including: Director, Office of the Assistant Administrator (2000-2005); Deputy Resident Representative, Viet Nam (1996-2000); Assistant Resident Representative, Pakistan (1992-1996); Programme Advisor, Ethiopia (1989-1992); and Programme Officer, Ghana (1986-1989).

Nicholas holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bristol University in the United Kingdom.

UNDP Country Director, China

Ms. Agi Veres

Ms. Agi Veres is the Country Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in China, since August 2015. She is responsible for the overall management of UNDP’s programming and operations in China, as well as partnership building and strategic coherence.

Ms. Veres has been working for UNDP since 2002 in various capacities at Headquarters (HQ), regional and country levels. Prior to her appointment as Country Director in UNDP China, she was the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Lesotho from October 2011. She worked at the regional level as Senior Programme Coordinator in the Bratislava Regional Centre for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) (2009-2011), and Deputy Chief for Policy Support and Programme Development of the Bratislava Regional Centre (2006-2008). She started her UNDP career in Headquarters, including as Reporting Coordinator and Business Analysis Team Lead (2005-2006), and ICT Communications Officer (2002-2005).
Prior to joining UNDP, Ms. Veres worked in the private sector as a management consultant for Accenture, as an Organizational Change Management expert in Hungary and New York (1997 to 2002). She specialized in organizational effectiveness, communication and process reengineering.

Ms. Veres is a native of Hungary and has a degree of Master of Sciences in Business Administration from the Budapest University of Economic Sciences.

Deputy Country Director UNDP China

Mr. Patrick Haverman

Mr. Patrick Haverman is the UNDP Deputy Country Director in China.

Patrick graduated from the Rotterdam School of Management in Business Administration  in 1993, he worked as financial controller and marketing manager for an international Architect and Engineering company, after which he started his international career working for a bi-lateral development project in Bolivia, after which he joined the United Nations Development Programme in 2000 in Honduras.

He was the Deputy Resident Representative Strategic Operations in Tanzania in 2003, joined an initiative for Africa to ramp up efficiency and delivery in the region; undertook in 1,5 year around 20 missions to African countries. In 2006 he became the project advisor for the UNDP for the Millennium Villages project, working with the Earth Institute at Columbia University, for an implementation in 13 countries in Africa.

Mr. Haverman is a native of The Netherlands. Patrick is an idealistic, optimistic realist, and has travelled to over 140 countries. He is married and tries to keep up learning Mandarin at the speed of his two children.
