Zhang Wei currently works as the Assistant Country Director and Chief Communications Officer of UNDP China, in charge of communication, innovation and strategic partnerships with the public and private sectors. Under her leadership, UNDP China has planned and conducted multiple international, regional and national high-level events and large-scale, impactful campaigns, including the United Nations 70th Anniversary - Melodies of Peace and Development Concert with Lang Lang; the global “Tell Everyone” campaign to launch the Sustainable Development Goals; and UNDP Animal Ambassador for Sustainable Development- Global Panda naming campaign. Zhang Wei also serves as a strong advocate for UN visions and key development issues, including poverty alleviation, inequality, climate change and gender issues.
Education and past Experience
- Master’s degrees in Journalism and Latin-American Studies, Stanford University
- Before joining UNDP, she worked in media.
Louise Xi Li
Areas of Expertise
Citizen engagement in public services, data sciences, tech-based innovation, behaviour insight, social innovation labs, digital media.
Louise Xi Li leads the innovation portfolio at the UNDP China, engaging staff in cross-team collaboration projects on exploring how technology can tackle stubborn development challenges, testing new ideas in areas of data science, social entrepreneurship and challenge prizes to help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Being appointed as one of the 14 Innovation Ambassadors for Asia Pacific region, she also works closely with her peer development innovators in the region to drive solutions, challenge development traditions, experiment with and prototype new ideas, bring users into the design process of development project and policy, and seek collaboration with non-traditional partners. Coming from a mixed background of linguistics, communication and technology, she also has extensive experience and sincere faith in new media for social good.
