    The 14th China Photovoltaic Conference (CPVC 14) was jointly hosted by the China International Center for Economic and Technical Cooperation (CICETE), UNDP, the China Renewable Energy Society and the China National Renewable Energy Centre from November 19th to November 21st. This publication summarizes the keynote speeches delivered by representatives from the government, research institutes and private sectors regarding national planning of the solar energy sector development and the technology advancement in the photovoltaic industry in order to provide policy as well as technology recommendations for the stakeholders in this field.

    Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region plays a key role in the Chinese sugar industry, with more than 20 million people working in sugarcane agriculture and production. In China, as much as 60 percent of sugar production comes from the region. But Guangxi also suffers from droughts and flooding, which damage harvests and decrease productivity.

    The international scientific community has reached an overall consensus regarding the science of climate change and its effects. In 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the international scientific authority tasked with informing and advising the global community on climate change, concluded that “warming of the climate system is unequivocal”, and that there is a greater than 90 percent probability that the warming observed since the mid-20th century has predominantly been caused by human activity.
